Makarska-Riviera

The Makarska Riviera is about 60 kilometers long and only several kilometers wide, squeezed under towering mountain Biokovo and the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea. Because of its sunny climate and long pebbly beaches the Makarska Riviera is a very popular tourist destination. It is characterized by a string of settlements along the coast from the border with the Neretva Delta on southeast to the Omis Riviera on northwest

The Makarska Riviera is famous for its crystal clear sea and long pebbly beaches.

It offers visitors a wide spectrum of activities. You can swim in the clear water and enjoy the sun and the local culinary offer.
Or enjoy your holiday and go diving or paragliding. Take a trip by boat and visit the island of Brač.
Visit the Biokovo nature park and enjoy the flora and fauna. If you like mountain biking, horse riding, hiking or rafting the Makarska Riviera ist the right place for you.

The Makarska Riviera consists of following settlements (north to south):

Brela, Baška Voda, Promajna, Krvavica, Bratuš, Bast, Makarska, Tucepi, Podgora, Drašnice, Igrane, Živogošće, Drvenik, Zaostrog, Podaca, Brist, Gradac.
Brela is known as the pearl of Makarska riviera.
In 1968 Brela was crowned as "Champion of Adriatic" for high achievements in tourist activity. The symbol of Brela is "Kamen Brela" (Brela Stone), a small rock island just off the main beach in Brela, the Punta Rata beach. In 2003 American magazine Forbes put the Punta Rata beach on the list of 10 world's most beautiful beaches, where it's ranked 6th in the world and 1st in Europe.

Baška Voda is modern tourist centre within the Makarska Riviera. The woods around, long pebbly beaches, clear sea and lot of hotels, restaurants and bars will make your holiday perfect. On the peak Gradina lie reminds of village and Byzantine fort from last antic. Church of St. Nikol was built at beginning of 20th century.

Makarska is the center of the Makarska Riviera.
It is a tourist centre, located on a horseshoe shaped bay between the Biokovo mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The city is noted for its palm-fringed promenade, where fashionable cafes, bars and boutiques overlook the pretty harbour where many pleasure craft are moored. Adjacent to the beach are several large capacity hotels as well as a camping ground. The center of Makarska is an old town with narrow stone-paved streets, a main church square where there is a flower and fruit market, and a Franciscan monastery that houses a sea shell collection featuring a giant clam shell.

Tučepi and its beautiful beaches.
It is a popular tourist destination thanks to its glorious coastline, its opportunities for sports and its excellent accommodation.

Biokovo Mountains

Biokovo  is the second-highest mountain range in Croatia, located along the Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic Sea, between the rivers of Cetina and Neretva. Its highest peak is Sveti Jure (Saint George), at 1762 m.a.s.l.
The 196 km² of its area is protected as a nature park.
When the weather is very clear, from the top of Biokovo it is possible to see Monte Gargano in Italy, which is 252 km (157 mi) away.
Biokovo offers a lot of possibilities for visitors like mountain climbing, hiking, hunting, horse riding, mountain biking and quading.
